Five new silks for Axiom

Axiom Advocates is delighted to announce five new silks. The new appointees are Jonathan Barne, Almira Delibegović-Broome, Martin Richardson, David Thomson and Gavin Walker. This brings the number of silks at Axiom Advocates to 26 providing unrivalled expertise in our core areas at the Senior bar.

Alastair Duncan QC, Stable Director said that “It is a measure of the strength and success of Axiom that such a large proportion of the new silks come from the stable. Some of our new silks have been with the stable from its launch ten years ago; others have joined along the way. Each was considered a go-to junior in their various fields; and each has consistently demonstrated advocacy of the highest standards in the Supreme Courts. Undoubtedly they will make a success of being senior. We warmly congratulate them and wish them well.”

Traditionally the rank of Queen’s Counsel has generally been reserved for those who have distinguished themselves in practice in the Supreme Courts.

Advocates and Solicitors with Rights of Audience in the Supreme Courts are eligible to apply to the Lord Justice General, Scotland’s senior judge. Before making nominations the Lord Justice General consults other judges, the Lord Advocate, the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and the President of the Law Society of Scotland.

Fourteen new Queen’s Counsel have been appointed in total by Her Majesty the Queen on the recommendation of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
