Firms sought to enter the Dragons’ Glen

Children 1st’s annual corporate challenge Dragons’ Glen gives participants the chance to improve their business skills, stand out from the crowd, and work closely with some of the top names in Scottish business. And all of this while raising much-needed funds to help protect vulnerable children in Scotland.

Ashley Sharp, senior corporate fundraiser for the charity, said: “Teams of up to ten colleagues receive an investment of £500 seed money to raise £5000 over five months, in any way they like. We’ve had recipe books, Christmas t-shirts, umbrellas, and office yoga sessions, to name but a few!”

“Since 2012 the challenge has raised an amazing £400,000 for Children 1st, which allows us to continue protecting children in Scotland from harm, and supporting those who’ve experienced trauma.”

One past participant commented that Dragons’ Glen “has been a great experience, encouraging not only the development of our business skills, financial awareness and entrepreneurial skills, but also our team building skills, leadership abilities and our confidence in general”.

“It is so rewarding to see that all the hard work and effort have helped raise so much money and awareness for such a great cause.”

The challenge begins in October with teams pitching their business and fundraising ideas to the charity’s panel of Dragons.

Thorntons LLP and Blackadders – both 2018 award winners – will be taking part again, alongside teams from EY, People’s Postcode Lottery, Aviva and others.
