A local authority has won a four-year legal battle over its confiscation of a pony that was being kept in a living room instead of a stable.
Stephanie Noble, 71, went to court to demand the return of her pony, which was seized in 2014 out of concern for its welfare.
The pony had been living for two years in the living room of Ms Noble’s ex-council house on the Isle of Lewis, The Times reports. She told Stornoway Sheriff Court that she moved it into her house following a land dispute.
Sheriff David Sutherland, however, denied Ms Noble’s pleas and granted a disposal order to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, allowing it to sell or donate the Connemara pony.
The sheriff also made a costs ruling against Ms Noble.
