Female lawyers ‘more ethical’ according to academic study

A group of academics from the UK and US claim that female law students had “a greater propensity to be more ethical”.

They also value “self-enhancement less and self-transcendence more highly” than men.

Richard Moorhead, a legal academic at University College London, told The Brief that women are “more interested in justice and the interests of people around them” compared to men.

The report also found that women “had a stronger sense of ethical identity and lower levels of moral disengagement and entitlement ”.

It is not clear how the report was able to correlate these values with the gender of the participants and not some other feature, for example, hair colour.
