FAI court process begins following death of haulier

The Crown Office has lodged a first notice to begin the court process for a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) into the death of Alistair Iain Campbell.
Mr Campbell, 63, an HGV driver and operator who traded as Alistair Campbell Haulage, died on 15 July 2024 at his operating centre in Glen Mor, Invergarry after being crushed beneath a lorry chassis.
A preliminary hearing is set for 8 October 2025.
The fatal accident inquiry will be held on 10 November 2025 at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Procurator fiscal Andy Shanks, said: “The death of Alistair Iain Campbell occurred while in the course of his employment and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.
“Mr Campbell’s family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.”
