Event: Artificial Intelligence in Legal Practice – What Every Solicitor Needs to Know

The SSC Society is delighted to invite members to its next event: Artificial Intelligence in Legal Practice: What Every Solicitor Needs to Know” a talk by Nicholas Peter Oprescu-Havriliuc, associate at MBM Commercial LLP.

The event will be held on Thursday 26 February at 6pm in the SSC Society Lounge, Parliament House, Edinburgh.

This session will provide solicitors with a structured and practical overview of the impact of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in legal practice, and the professional considerations that arise from its adoption.

The talk will explore the current and emerging use of AI across legal services, including legal research, document review, document analysis and drafting, and client engagement. It will look at both the opportunities and the risks associated with AI, with particular focus on professional responsibility, confidentiality, data protection, accuracy, bias, supervision, and professional liability.

Designed as a practical and accessible session, the discussion will focus on how solicitors can engage with AI tools responsibly and, most importantly, understand their limitations. The session will also consider how AI is likely to shape the future delivery of legal services and client expectations.

Content will be delivered in a clear, non-technical manner.

The talk will last about an hour with the opportunity for questions and refreshments afterwards. The event is eligible for at least one hour’s CPD.

This event is free. Please sign up via this Eventbrite link.
