ESPC’s ‘Conveyancing Central’ e-system could be rolled out across Scotland

Edinburgh Solicitor Property Centre, the leading property marketing company in East Central Scotland, in partnership with BDP Softwarefor Estate Agencies, is celebrating having reached a major milestone in the development of its new e-conveyancing service – ‘Conveyancing Central’.

The online system has been developed in response to enquiries from ESPC solicitors with the aim of significantly speeding up the conveyancing process as well providing an easily accessible and transparent electronic track record for all parties involved.

Earlier this year, live testing of the online system, in tandem with the offline process, returned significant positive feedback from solicitor members; as a result the system is now set to be rolled out to a wider ESPC audience to continue market research. This further testing will allow for a fully-developed platform to be available nationally in the near future.

Chief Executive of ESPC Paul Hilton said: “We have now reached a major milestone for our e-conveyancing system which could potentially change the landscape of the Scottish conveyancing process. We are delighted with the positive response from our members who are keen to be involved with the final development stages and to go on to use the system as part of their daily business process.

“The system we’ve created offers an unrivalled level of capability. Not only has it been carefully designed to be user friendly, it has the ability to greatly improve risk management assuring all parties a secure and supported experience.”

He added “Our commitment to improving the efficiency of the conveyancing process extends beyond our members and we look forward to working with the other SPC’s across Scotland and conveyancers to allow them to benefit from this intuitive online system improving the process for all parties involved in the sale of a property.”

‘Conveyancing Central’ will create a system whereby as soon as a property is marketed a new case will be automatically created alleviating the need for double keying information.

Once a buyer is found all key stakeholders will have access to the case include purchasing and selling solicitors, the home seller and buyer and their legal search providers.

Adding his support for the venture, Ian Fraser – Group Managing Director at First Scottish Group, said: “I am very supportive of the concept of e-conveyancing and particularly any innovative new ideas that can help improve the service for both solicitor and client. The partnership development of ‘Conveyancing Central’ from ESPC and BDP is exciting as both parties boast a strong understanding of the market which they are serving and how best to take a system like this forward.”
