England: Johnson & Johnson sued by over 3,000 over alleged cancer risk

A case against Johnson & Johnson (J&J) over alleged links between its talcum powder products and cancer has been formally lodged at the High Court on behalf of more than 3,000 claimants.
KP Law, formerly known as Keller Postman UK, is bringing what is believed to be one of the largest-ever pharmaceutical group actions in England and Wales.
The firm alleges that J&J was aware from the 1970s that its talcum powder contained traces of asbestos, which is linked to a range of cancers, but continued to sell the product in 2023.
Tom Longstaff, partner at KP Law, said earlier this year: “All the claimants who have sustained cancer after using J&J’s talcum powder products have experienced a life-changing illness. In some cases, they have died from their cancer, leaving their families devastated. All of these individuals deserve justice.”
J&J, which has already been ordered to pay hundreds of millions of dollars following similar lawsuits in the US, denies the allegations.
KP Law believes damages in the case could run up to £1 billion, becoming the largest product liability case in UK legal history, the BBC reports.
