Employment lawyers go the extra mile for Children With Cancer UK

The discipline of being a lawyer has paid off in more ways than one for two Scottish employment lawyers, David Morgan of Burness Paull and Graham Mitchell of Clyde & Co.

Lifelong friends, David and Graham agreed just over a year ago to run the Amsterdam Marathon 2016 for Children with Cancer UK (CwC), which took place earlier this month. For David, this was his first marathon, having only taken up running around three years ago.

While both David and Graham completed the marathon in personal best times, the real success was the incredible sum of more than £4,500 raised on behalf of the charity.

Their initial goal was £2,000 and, with donations still coming in, they have been completely overwhelmed and are grateful for the generosity of friends, clients, colleagues and contacts who supported this great cause.

Ashleigh McCluskey, sports events & community fundraising coordinator at CwC explained: “Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.

“Our aims are to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer. With support from fundraisers like Graham and David, who raised a fantastic £4,500 when they ran the Amsterdam Marathon, we are able to fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer.”
