The Dundee University Law Society (DULS) has been given an award for hosting the best law ball at a UK student law society awards ceremony.

At the LawCareers.Net Student Law Society Awards 2016 ceremony in Painter’s Hall in London last week, committee members Kirsten Paterson(careers assistant) and Camilla Horneman (secretary) accepted the award on behalf of DULS.

DULS president Andrew Bond was also nominated for the Best Society President Award.

The law ball is the highlight of the social calendar and is always a great success. Organised this year by DULS vice president Stuart Dyer (social lead) it was held at Peebles Hydro and included an overnight stay at the hotel, a three-course meal and a night filled with ceilidh dancing.

Kirsten said: “It was such a pleasure to receive the award with Camilla on behalf of the Dundee University Law Society. It is great to know our hard work is being recognised.”

Camilla said: “The Dundee University Law Society would like to take this opportunity to thank LawCareers.Net for the award and for hosting such a great evening.

“The society would also like to thank Addleshaw Goddard for sponsoring the award. Finally, the society would like to thank all of its members and sponsors for their continuing support.”

Andrew added: “The hard work the committee does extends far beyond the event itself, with the committee running fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

“I would like to thank all our members who support the bake sales and pub quizzes we hold and make the ball itself such a special night.”
