Dumfries and Galloway Council is adding to its expanded legal team following recent investment.

The appeal of working in-house has already drawn in a blend of home-grown talent and experienced solicitors from private practice. Why? It’s not just the pay, benefits and work-life balance.

  • It’s being a key business partner to our clients, who are also our colleagues, and collaborating as part of a supportive team to achieve their outcomes.
  • It’s being at the forefront of key projects and member driven political and strategic decisions to deliver vital services to our community where your input really matters.
  • It’s the opportunity to develop specialisms in exciting and developing fields of practice and relishing rewards and challenges of the varied, complex and sometimes unique work that comes with working for a local authority.
  • It’s about being able to engage early to provide proactive advice and drive strategic change as part of a trusted service with a seat at the table of the highest levels of decision making.

The council invests in the legal service and its team. Part of the service’s modernisation included expanding access to digital solutions and systems to assist and enable flexible ways of working and access to professional knowledge sharing networks. Personal development is encouraged, with a key emphasis on growing skills and knowledge to build well rounded and enabling solicitors in keeping with the O Shaped lawyer approach.

Don’t let the idyllic picturesque setting fool you, Dumfries and Galloway is a region undergoing real change and exciting development which our solicitors are a key part of.
