Crime podcast steals show with another award win
A second award in a month is proof beyond reasonable doubt that a true crime podcast from the University of Dundee is essential listening.
Inside Forensic Science has been named winner of the True Crime, Mystery and the Dark Stuff category at the 2026 Scottish Podcast Awards. It is the second success in the space of several weeks for the production, after winning the Outstanding Indie Podcast crown at the UK True Crime Podcast Awards. It comes ahead of the imminent launch of a new series of the show.
Produced by Adventurous Audio for the University’s Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science (LRCFS), the production has established a loyal audience by combining compelling crime narratives with expert analysis from forensic scientists, police investigators, legal professionals and academic researchers. Episodes explore how forensic evidence is gathered, interpreted and used in the pursuit of justice.
Since launching, the series has examined a variety of historical and modern cases, providing listeners with valuable insight into the science behind criminal investigations. Through expert interviews and rigorous research, the podcast has helped demystify forensic science and emphasise its essential role in delivering justice.
Professor Niamh Nic Daeid, director of the LRCFS, said: “It is hugely gratifying to know that the podcast resonates with forensic scientists, judges and the public. It is also a fantastic way of highlighting the critical importance of forensic science in the justice system.
“I would like to thank everyone at Adventurous Audio for their dedication and hard work in producing Inside Forensic Science, and those from across the justice community and beyond who have provided their valuable support and insight.”
