Solicitor-estate agency, Coulters, is celebrating a record year of business after reporting a 30 per cent profit on turnover, which reached about £1.4 million, exceeding the industry average, a year after merging with HBJ Property.Coulters has now bolstered its sales team with the addition of three new employees. Amanda Kerley, Jamie Stevenson and Shaughan Baynard have all joined in the roles of sales administrator, and will be based at the company’s offices in Stockbridge and Marchmont.

The firm is also set to open its first legal and administration hub in August, in the city’s Edinburgh Park. Currently being fitted out to provide 20 desks, a board room, client waiting area and staff break-out space, the new office space at Lochside Way spans 2,300 sq. ft. and will bring the business’s admin and solicitor function under one roof for the first time.

Mark Coulter, chief executive of Coulters, said: “We have achieved really strong results, despite operating in a market, which has seen a significant shortage of properties, and cemented Coulters as a customer-focused, hard-working and ambitious estate-agency, with an expert understanding of the Edinburgh property market.

“Our average selling time is 22 days, compared to the ESPC average of 26 days, and we consistently achieve almost three per cent above Home Report value, which is close to double the industry average.

“Bringing together two companies can prove challenging, but we have become a stronger and more rounded business, with a clear direction for 2017 and beyond.”
