BTO's Tartan Spartans take on super race in aid of Brightest Star

On Sunday 16 September 2018 in Deuchny woods, Perth, eight intrepid solicitors from BTO will participate in the Spartan Super Race, which is part of the 2018 Scotland Spartan Trifecta, a daunting obstacle race series.

The lawyers will face a true test of their athleticism and endurance in support of Brightest Star, BTO’s nominated charity for 2018.

Brightest Star provides support to families following the death of a child at any age, from any cause of death. It was set up in memory of Jack Kennedy who passed away in his mum Arlene’s arms on the 19 December 2012, six days before his sixth birthday.

The 12k race features more than 25 Spartan obstacles, including walking on fire and crawling through barbed wire, and over eight miles of rugged terrain.

BTO’s tartan Spartans include Alasdair Gillies, Clare Bone, Vikki Watt, David Cairns and Lindsay MacNeill, Alan Eadie, Lynne Cardow and Calum Sweeney.

Mr Gillies said: “Brightest Star is an excellent charity. When Jack’s mum Arlene told us her story and explained what the charity does for families, we were all moved and wanted to do something demanding to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.

“The Spartan Race tests all parts of your body and mind. We are all very excited, if a bit wary, at the prospect of this challenge, and we are keen to push ourselves to the limit and motivate each other to cross the finish line.”
