Brodies sponsors Maggie’s Culture Crawl
Cancer charity Maggie’s is bringing its successful fundraising event, the Maggie’s Culture Crawl, to Edinburgh for the first time with the support of Brodies LLP.
Brodies is sponsoring the event on 25 September 2015, which is described as “part night-walk, part cultural adventure” and has successfully raised funds for the charity when hosted in London over the past ten years.
The walk will take in 10 miles of the city, with exclusive access to a number of landmarks including Parliament Hall, the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and the Dovecot Studios, before finishing at the Maggie’s Edinburgh centre.
The funds go towards Maggie’s work in providing free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer as well as their family and friends.
Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies, said he was “delighted” to support the initiative.
The event will be curated by author Alexander McCall Smith, who plans to write a special short story celebrating the route around Scotland’s capital.
Mr Drummond said: “We’ve had great satisfaction – and fun – over the past 10 years or so helping Maggie’s raise funds for their terrific work and are delighted to be able to get behind this latest initiative.”
Andrew Anderson, centre head of Maggie’s Edinburgh, added: “After 10 years of spectacular events in London it’s wonderful to have a Maggie’s Culture Crawl taking place right here, taking in the sights and cultural gems of Edinburgh.”
