Borders law firms to merge

Borders law firms Douglas Gilmour & Son in Selkirk and Pike & Chapman in Galashiels are to merge and trade as Gilmour Pike Chapman.

From 1 April 2026, the firm will become Gilmour Pike Chapman Limited. The practice will continue to operate from the same office locations.

Partner Stephanie Robertson said: “Our practices have been serving many of the same families for generations and our reputation is built on the strong relationships that we forge with our clients.

“Many may not be aware that Douglas Gilmour & Son and Pike & Chapman have been one combined partnership for many years and as a long-standing presence in each town, this arrangement has worked well.”

She added: “It is also with great pleasure that I welcome Iain Burke to the team, a highly respected solicitor from the Borders, who brings with him an immense amount of experience and specialist knowledge.”

Mr Burke said: “This is a great opportunity for me to join Stephanie in the business at an exciting time for the firm. I am looking forward to continuing to help the people of the Scottish Borders with their legal needs as I have done since moving here in 1992. This move represents the next positive step in my legal career and I am very excited to be joining the firm.”
