Body cameras to be trialled in Scottish prisons
A pilot scheme will see guards given body cameras in Scottish prisons.
Prison staff in HMP Barlinnie, HMP Low Moss, and HMP Perth are to use cameras for the next six months.
The Scottish Prison Service said that the use of the cameras will support evidence after incidents occur. It also said it hopes that the use of cameras will increase trust and transparency. The cameras will be used in plain sight and staff will indicate to prisoners that they are being used.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “This pilot, across three of our establishments, will aim to support those priorities, while also promoting transparency, trust, and good relationships.”
