The Guildry of Dundee has elected Scott Williamson, chairman of Blackadders, as the new Lord Dean of Guild.

Mr Williamson is well known in the city and is also involved with a number of other local organisations including the Dundee and Angus Battalion of the Boys Brigade, TS Duncan, the local Sea Cadet Corps unit, and has also been involved with projects related to RAF100, the centenary of the RAF.

He said that he was honoured and delighted to have been elected.

He added: “I am looking forward to my term as Lord Dean of Guild at such an exciting time for the city.

“The Guildry will do what it can to promote and advance the interests of Dundee whenever possible.”

The Guildry of Dundee – Dundee’s historic merchant guild – is one of the oldest bodies in the city, tracing its origins back over 800 years. Today it has a membership made up of business and professional people from the local area, and has welcomed a number of new members to its ranks this year.

Each year it holds a number of members’ events and is involved in several ongoing projects, including one with the School of Architecture at the University of Dundee and a Primary Schools’ Entrepreneurship competition.
