Blackadders LLP has announced a series of promotions across its Scottish offices.

Dario Demarco becomes legal director, Richard Wilson, Robyn Lee and Susan Currie all become associates whilst Blair Duncan and Stefan Docherty take up the roles of senior solicitor.

Mr Demarco is based in the Glasgow office and joined the firm’s corporate team in 2019. With a particular focus on M&A and investment work, he recently helped lead the sell side legal work in the sale of ClassForKids to The Access Group. He has a particular interest in and primarily supports the firm’s clients in the healthcare and technology sectors.

Ms Lee joined the firm’s private client team in 2019 following her traineeship with the firm. She is experienced in dealing with a wide range of matters including executries, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianships, trusts, tax and succession planning. She is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). In 2022 she received a Worldwide Excellence Award from STEP in recognition of being the top scoring student for her Diploma in Trusts and Estates (Scotland).

Mr Wilson has worked in the corporate team since qualifying with the firm in 2018 and advises on a range of corporate and commercial matters including M&A, funding rounds and intellectual property advice. He works with a number of innovative, high growth companies and has established himself as a go-to adviser in the video games sector.

Ms Currie is in the dispute resolution team and works in both the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. She is experienced in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation. While Ms Currie advises on a wide range of contentious matters, she regularly acts in restructuring and insolvency disputes. In 2021, she passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency exam with merit and, in 2017, won the Law Awards of Scotland Trainee of the Year.

Mr Duncan is part of the award-winning Employment team and works in both Edinburgh and Dundee. He has a particular focus on contentious employment law and regularly represents employers and employees at employment tribunals. He is also a tutor at Strathclyde University on the undergraduate employment law course and features as a regular presenter in the team’s podcast, Employment Lawyer in Your Pocket.

Mr Docherty has more than five years’ experience in residential property, specialising in the Glasgow property market. Prior to working with Blackadders, he trained and worked at a well-known Glasgow law firm, covering all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Joint managing partner at Blackadders, Ryan McKay, said: “I am delighted for everyone who has been promoted and I wish them all the very best in their new roles. This shows our commitment to developing and investing in our people and to ensuring there are opportunities to progress across Blackadders. We are a full-service, national law firm, so are a natural home for ambitious lawyers.”
