Blackadders announces promotions and claims awards

Susan McFadyen

Blackadders has appointed Susan McFadyen as a partner in its corporate & commercial team.

Ms McFadyen joined Blackadders in May 2015 and has more than 15 years’ experience in corporate & commercial law, dealing with a wide range of matters including joint ventures, investment rounds and intellectual property. She also has significant experience in the timeshare and vacation ownership industry.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the firm’s success at last week’s 2017 Scottish Legal Awards, where the employment team picked up the trophy for “Excellence in Client Care” while Andrew Wallace, a solicitor in the employment law team, was commended in the “Rising Star of the Year” category.

Ms McFadyen said: “The firm has entered an extremely exciting period of growth – particularly over the last 12 months - and I very much look forward to being part of its long-term future.”

Managing partner, Johnston Clark, said, “It gives us great satisfaction to appoint Susan as our latest partner to Blackadders. She has been an excellent addition to our business since joining us in 2015, delivering outstanding service and expertise to our clients.”

The news comes as Blackadders wishes long serving partner Steve Swinton well for his retirement after 34 years with the firm, during which he specialised in residential property and general private client work.

Meanwhile, in a number of other appointments within the firm, Pamela Gaffar, Louise Patterson, Jennifer Douglas, Samantha Thomson and Joanne Todd have all been made associate solicitors.

Additionally, Gillian Cunningham, Alastair Johnston and Fraser Morrison have been promoted to senior solicitor.

Hayley Willison and Stephen Annis are now also fully qualified paralegals in the firms’ residential conveyancing team. Caitlin Houliston has also completed a bespoke specialist paralegal qualification for residential conveyancing.

Mr Clark added: “It is essential that we continue to develop and reinvest in our staff to ensure that we are offering our clients the best possible service. These promotions are indicative of that commitment. I offer my congratulations to all of them on their promotions and wish them success in their new roles.”
