Axiom Advocates has announced that Mitchell Abbott and Liam Smith have called to the bar, further strengthening Axiom’s commercial and public law expertise.
Mr Abbott joins Axiom as an experienced litigator with a broad commercial and public law practice. His experience spans a wide range of disputes, including corporate, construction, competition, product liability, professional negligence, property and public law matters. He has appeared regularly in both the Scottish and English courts, as well as before arbitral tribunals. He has significant experience in complex and high-value disputes, including cases with international dimensions. He is also experienced in group proceedings and collective actions.
Mr Smith calls to the bar with almost a decade of experience advising and acting for clients in a broad range of commercial and public law disputes. Prior to calling, he developed a substantial litigation practice advising clients on commercial disputes involving contract, professional negligence, property, construction and company law. He subsequently worked within a leading competition and group litigation practice in London before returning to Scotland. He has also advised clients on a wide range of public law and regulatory matters, including judicial review proceedings. Mr Smith called to the bar as a Lord Hope scholar.
Their addition reflects Axiom’s continued commitment to providing clients with exceptional expertise across commercial litigation, public law and complex dispute resolution. Their combined experience in high-value litigation, regulatory matters, competition law and group proceedings will further enhance the breadth and depth of services available to clients.
