Anderson Strathern has strengthened its dispute resolution team with the promotion of commercial litigation specialist Eilidh MacEwan to partner.

A solicitor advocate with more than 10 years’ experience, she advises clients across the financial sector on a range of commercial disputes including insolvency, tax litigation and debt recovery. She also has considerable experience in group litigation.

Based in the firm’s Edinburgh office, Ms MacEwan joined Anderson Strathern as an associate in 2023 before progressing to director in 2025.

Her promotion follows the appointment of contentious trusts expert Sarah-Jane Macdonald as partner in August, with the two appointments broadening the team’s expertise across commercial and private client disputes.

Ms MacEwan said: “Taking on this new role and continuing to build on the work we’ve been doing across the dispute resolution team is incredibly rewarding. Since joining Anderson Strathern, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a fantastic range of clients on some interesting and complex matters.

“Becoming a partner is an exciting next step, and I’m looking forward to building on the relationships we’ve developed with clients and continuing to grow the practice, particularly in group litigation.”

Tom McEntegart, partner and department manager for dispute resolution at Anderson Strathern, said: “Eilidh has built a strong reputation for providing clear, practical advice to clients, often in challenging circumstances.

“Her extensive experience across commercial litigation, insolvency and tax disputes is a real asset to the team. Her promotion is thoroughly deserved and reflects our continued investment in developing talent and strengthening the specialist advice we provide to clients across Scotland.”
