Anderson Strathern boosts private client team

(L-R): Colin Henderson and Catriona Miller

Anderson Strathern has boosted its senior private client team with the promotion of Catriona Miller to partner.

The growth of the team reflects increased workload for the firm in the private client market and follows a number of senior appointments in 2015 including Anne Henderson who joined as partner from DWF and the internal partner promotion of John Peutherer. There are now over 50 people in the firm’s private client team led by practice manager, Colin Henderson.

Ms Miller brings strength and depth to the firm’s private client offering with more than 22 years of experience in advising on succession planning, wealth protection and tax planning. She arranges tax-efficient wills and trusts and advises on powers of attorney and care of the elderly.

She has worked at Anderson Strathern for the last 13 years and for the last two she has been leading the firm’s East Lothian practice from its Haddington office.

Speaking about this role and her promotion, she said: “Through the Anderson Strathern team, families in the local area can enjoy the specialist expertise and service standards of a premier city law firm from here in East Lothian.”

Working alongside Ms Miller in delivering private client services in East Lothian is solicitor Rob McNab, who trained with the firm and since qualifying in 2014 has been advising on succession planning, wills, powers of attorney and guardianship and on the administration of estates.

Mr Henderson said: ”Catriona has taken the East Lothian practice from strength to strength and her promotion is thoroughly deserved.”

The investment in the private client practice addresses the greater demand for legal and wealth management advice in Scotland, where individuals are coming to terms with significant change and uncertainty affecting the law of succession, inheritance of pension pots, the tax treatment of investment income and savings and the needs of the elderly and vulnerable as people live longer.
