Anderson Strathern adds GTC Scotland to clients

Anderson Strathern has been appointed as the sole firm to provide presenting officer services to the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC Scotland) following a competitive tender exercise.

The firm was previously one of two providers of the services.

GTC Scotland was established as one of the first teaching councils in 1965 and became an independent self-regulating body for the teaching profession in 2012 under the Public Services Reform (General Teaching Council for Scotland ) Order 2011.

It is responsible for maintaining the register of teachers in Scotland, sets the professional standards expected of all teachers and investigates and adjudicates on the fitness to teach of registrants through its regulation processes.

Anderson Strathern’s professional regulation practice is led by partner Catriona Watt and is recognised in the “Professional Discipline - Best of the UK” category in the Chambers & Partners legal directory.

The firm acts for a wide variety of professional regulatory bodies across Scotland and the UK, including the General Medical Council, the General Dental Council, the General Pharmaceutical Council, the Architects’ Registration Board, the Scottish Social Services Council, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the Royal College of Nursing.
