And finally… you’ve got mail

A man who attacked a postman in an attempt to steal his package might have thought twice if he had known his would-be victim was a former boxing champion.

Daniel Brown, 22, attacked Kevin McIntyre, 36, as he was delivering a package, unaware that Mr McIntyre used to be a professional boxer and won the British welterweight title in 2007.

Mr Brown was shocked when the postman fought back.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard that last September Mr McIntyre could not find a flat he was looking for so knocked another door to ask.

When Mr Brown answered he stepped towards the postman and tried to block him from getting away before snatching the mail.

Mr McIntyre punched him, left the building and phoned the police.

Police found Mr Brown drunk and with mail he had taken. He admitted the offence in court.

Sheriff Seith Ireland deferred sentence until next week for background reports.
