And finally… wish you were here
Two men have been charged with assault in Canada after taking part in a bar brawl at a fundraiser to cover funeral costs for a man killed trying to stop a bar brawl.
The irony of the situation was not appreciated in Saskatoon provincial court last Thursday, where Robbie Watier and Christopher Godlien pleaded guilty to their respective charges of assault and assault causing bodily harm.
They were embroiled in a fight at Tequila Nightclub last year during a fundraiser to raise funeral costs for 29-year old Dustin Boulet, who was stabbed outside a bar after trying to end a fight.
The Crown and defence jointly proposed a one-year conditional sentence order, or jail sentence served in the community, for Watier and Goldien.
Both men were also ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution to the victim of their assault.
