And finally… top dog
Police in India recovered jewellery worth around ₹400,000 (£3,087) after CCTV footage showed that the suspected thief was a stray dog.
Lata Bai, a woman from Kayampur, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, reported that a bag containing gold and silver jewellery, around ₹2,000 in cash and food had disappeared while she was at Mandsaur District Hospital with her son.
The bag went missing between 1am and 6am on August 24. Police reviewing CCTV footage saw a dog enter the surgical ward at around 4am, pick up the bag in its mouth and leave.
Officers tracked the dog’s movements through cameras and later found the bag near the hospital. The jewellery and other belongings were intact and were returned to Ms Bai after police completed the necessary formalities.
Police said the smell of food inside the bag may have attracted the dog.
