And finally… the godson and hokey cokey lands student in pokey
A man said to be a leading Mafia boss has been betrayed by his 11-year old son after he became the crime gang’s youngest informant.
Prosecutors have been working with the boy from Rome as they attempt to break up the ‘Ndrangheta, a crime group based in the region of Calabria.
Following his father’s arrest, the child told prosecutors: “Dad used to do whatever he wanted within the clan, he was the boss’ right-hand.
“Of course I know what a mafioso does, he deals drugs, he shoots, it’s normal … In town I’ve heard everybody talk about the ‘Ndrangheta, even my older friends.”
The boy also handed over a key piece of evidence - the SIM card from his mobile phone, which once belonged to his father and allegedly continues to hold incriminating data.
The boy’s father - Gregorio Malvaso, 36 - will face charges and is unlikely to return to the Mafia any time soon.
A university student’s prank led him to prison after his fake display of “cocaine” tested positive for the illegal drug.
Jonathan Harrington, a student at University of Michigan, told cops he thought it would be funny to leave aspirin pills and suspicious-looking lines of sugar on his kicthen counter before a room inspection.
However, a notoriously unreliable on-the-spot drug test found that the sugar tested positive for cocaine.
As a result, Mr Harrington was hauled to jail and is now awaiting further analysis to clear his name and prevent a drugs conviction.
He told the Miami New Times: “I’m hoping the prosecutor’s office will drop it once they realize their error.”
