And finally… taking the mickey

A disgruntled former Disney employee who hacked into the company’s computers to vandalise its restaurant menus has been jailed.
Michael Scheuer, 40, made changes including altering menu information relating to wine regions to reflect locations of recent mass shootings.
More seriously, he manipulated allergen information to indicate that food items were safe for customers with certain allergies when they were not.
In addition to the changes to Disney’s internal system for managing restaurant menus, he launched denial-of-service attacks designed to lock certain company employees out of their accounts.
He took the actions after being sacked as menu production manager for Disney. None of his manipulated menus were displayed in restaurants.
Scheuer has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for knowingly transmitting a program, code, or command to a protected computer and intentionally causing damage and for committing aggravated identity theft.
