And finally... pipe dream

A man alleged to have a bong built into his car to allow him to smoke cannabis while driving has been arrested for the 98th time.

The man, who has not been named, was one of two suspects apprehended by police in the US state of Washington in connection with organised retail theft.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the man’s truck, which was allegedly abandoned following a pursuit, was searched and found to contain “thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise”.

“Additionally, the suspect had a custom bong device built into the dash of the truck so he could comfortably smoke drugs while driving,” the police force added in a statement shared on Facebook.

The man has four felony convictions for theft, 27 misdemeanour convictions and 97 prior arrests.

He was charged with driving under the influence, eluding police and possession of narcotics, and will also face further charges of organised retail theft.

“Nice work by deputies and dispatchers to get some career criminals into custody… again,” Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said.
