And finally… pink money

Hollywood blockbuster Barbie has been banned in Algeria for allegedly promoting homosexuality.

The film – which has generated more than $1 billion at the box office worldwide – has been screened in Algerian cinemas for the past three weeks.

Local news sources said the ban was a result of the film “violating morals” in the majority Muslim country, France24 reports.

There is no explicit portrayal of LGBT+ relationships in the film, according to reviews. Kuwait and Lebanon previously banned screenings of the movie on similar grounds.
