And finally… peelers

Authorities have seized nearly £14 million worth of cocaine that was hidden among bananas donated to a prison.

Around 540 packages of cocaine were found among the 45 boxes which were donated because they were “already ripe”.

Officials at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said they suspected something was wrong because one of the boxes “felt different than the others”.

After discovering a package containing “a white powdery substance”, customs officials were called and tested it positive for cocaine.

The Department added: “Customs agents then searched each box on the two pallets, and they were all ripe and loaded.”

The Drug Enforcement Administration and US Customs and Border Protection are both investigating the incident.
