And finally… own goal

Public authorities have intervened to prevent a French couple from naming their baby boy Griezmann Mbappe after France’s two World Cup winners.

The couple have been referred to the French public prosecutor, according to the mayor of Brive-la-Gaillarde, a small town in southwest France.

Under a 1993 French law, authorities can refuse names which are deemed “contrary to the interest of the child”.

If judges rule against the couple, they will be forced to pick a new name for their child.
