And finally… miffed Malaysian mountain and too late to Bin it

Authorities in Malaysia arrested a British woman after she was accused of triggering an earthquake by stripping naked on a sacred peak – thereby angering the mountain spirit.

Eleanor Hawkins, 23, an aerospace engineering student from Derby is being held with two Canadian siblings – Lindsey and Danielle Petersen – and a Dutch woman, Dylan Snel.

Local tribal leaders called on the tourists to pay a “sogit”, ie a fine, of ten buffalo or risk imprisonment.

Ms Hawkins was arrested at Tawau Airport this week as she was about to fly to Kuala Lumpur.

Another member of the group who displeased the mountain, Emil Kaminski, criticised officials online.

He said: “Oh, Malaysia, why are your politicians so stupid?

“Some deranged ***** has linked earthquakes and mountaintop nudity.”

Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, speaking to Malaysia’s official news agency Bernama said: “Some places have their own historical background and are sacred to the local community and, as such, visitors to these places should respect the place, the local traditions and cultures.”

A man has failed in his attempt to get more information on former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s pornography collection after his freedom of information request made to the CIA was rejected.

Following the assassination of Bin Laden in 2011 the US government recovered various items from his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The government disclosed the details of love letters he wrote to his wives as well as books he kept.

However, the US Navy SEAL Team 6 that stormed the compound also found a substantial amount of pornography in Bin Laden’s lair.

David Covucci, a blogger, made a freedom of information request of the CIA to get a hold of the material.

In its response, the CIA said: “With regard to the pornographic material Osama bin Laden had in his possession at the time of his death, responsive records, should they exist, would be contained in operational files.”

Michael Lavergne, the CIA’s information officer, added: “To the extent that this material exists, the CIA would be prohibited” by federal law, “from mailing obscene matter.”
