City commissioners in Florida torn on whether to approve a shooting range connected to a licensed restaurant have decided to allow the development.
Concerns were raised about the wisdom of mixing booze and bullets on a commercial property, but the City of Daytona Beach has now approved the proposal.
One commissioner told the Daytona Beach News-Journal: “I’ve gone back and forth on this” - before finally voting to approve the proposal.
A fellow commissioner cheerfully added: “It’s a very unique opportunity.”
The empty property at 2900 Bellevue Avenue is being transformed into a restaurant with a licensed bar, connected to a 12-lane gun range.
Ron Perkinson and Edward Staudt, the entrepreneurs behind the idea, say they intend to bar people who buy drinks in the restaurant from going to the gun range afterwards.
