Scottish prisoners have begun converting to Judaism – in order to receive better meals.
Between 2013-14 there were only nine Jewish prisoners in Scotland but there are now 130 and all are entitled to kosher meals, which cost the double the ordinary fare.
The inmates have apparently been inspired by the hit Netflix show Orange is the New Black, in which a character called “Black Cindy” converts for this very reason.
