And finally… it’s a dog’s life for emergency call cops
Police officers rushed to a B&B in Blairgowrie after receiving a silent 999 call.
However, there was no emergency at all – the caller was a one-year-old cocker spaniel called Cino who had been playing with the phone and had somehow managed to dial the emergency number.
Owner Jillian Merrouche, 46, was surprised when two officers suddenly appeared at the door.
However, she realised what had happened after finding the dog playing in the garden with the phone in his mouth.
Ms Merrouche said: “I don’t know how he managed to click in the numbers, but he did.
“I had left the phone on a ledge in the garden and he must have got hold of it and was playing with it.
“Suddenly I had the police on my door saying that they had a call from my house number before the line went dead.
“They asked if I had any children in the house who could have accidentally made the call, and then I realised that I had left the phone outside.
“I was a bit embarrassed by it - I hope the police saw the funny side.
“He’s just a mad cocker spaniel, he’s only young.”
She said on social media: “Major mortification. Dog had got the phone and somehow dialled 999. Police came round to check all was well. True story. #the shame”.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We received a call, enquiries were made and all was in order.”
