And finally… in vino veritas

A lawyer who had already been suspended for stealing wine has been disbarred after preying on a client during her divorce.

Rodger W. Moore was suspended in 2015 for stealing three bottles of wine and olive oil in an incident in 2012.

And in 2001 the Northern Kentucky man was convicted of stealing 12 bottles of wine from a shop in the US state of Georgia, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Now the Ohio Supreme Court has disbarred Moore, with much of the court’s opinion revolving around his “bait-and-switch” tactics in a 2015 divorce case.

He agreed to represent a woman for no charge but later asked her to sign an $11,000 promissory note.

“Once she was entirely at his mercy, Moore demanded that she pay him for the same services he had agreed to provide for free,” the opinion stated.

“And after [she] failed to remit payment, Moore filed suit and asserted false and frivolous claims against her.”

Judges in the court made a unanimous judgment to disbar Moore.
