And finally… in the dock in the dock

A 24-year old man has been jailed after being caught in possession of cocaine while sitting in the dock of Luton Crown Court – moments after he was acquitted of drugs charges.

Waqas Khan believed he had narrowly avoided a conviction for conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin, until it was discovered his bag contained a large quantity of the proscribed drug.

Sensing he was snookered, Khan went on to plead guilty to a fresh charge of possession with intent to supply and was jailed for 21 months.

Detective Inspector Paul Baron said: “To turn up in the dock with class A drugs on him shows a complete and utter disregard to the law.

“Khan’s actions were beyond belief and I’m pleased that he will face a custodial sentence - showing that he is not in fact above the law.”
