And finally… I got 999 problems but a genuine caller ain’t one
Avon and Somerset Police have revealed some of the stupid phone calls they have received.
In one case a man phoned up to say a greedy seagull had swooped off with his sandwich and asked police to check CCTV footage for evidence of the incident.
Another caller rang 999 to talk to the Queen while one officer tweeted they had received a call from someone who complained about being splashed by a puddle.
In yet another instance of stupidity, a woman wasted police time by complaining that an airport had delivered her missing luggage to her neighbours – who were out.
In the US the police deal with similar queries.
A Pennsylvania man was charged after calling police and asking them to fix his air-conditioning.
Travis Turner, 24, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the emergency services.
Mr Turner has done this 63 times over the past three years for insignificant or stupid complaints.
