Mr Yuan’s various girlfriends became aware of each other after he was rushed to hospital.

The fraud allegation relates to money he took from the women, the South China Morning Post reports.

The girlfriends set up an online group called “revenge alliance” in which they discovered he would ask some of them for money every month.

Reports say he has had a child with one of the women and was due to marry another.

But the reality of the situation became known after he had an accident last month and doctors sought to contact his loved ones.

One girlfriend, Xiao Li, who had been seeing Mr Yuan for a year-and-a-half told local paper Xiaxiang Chen Bao: “I was really worried when I heard that he was in hospital.

“But when I started seeing more and more beautiful girls show up, I couldn’t cry any more.”

After his exploits came to light, thousands of social media posts were made about Mr Yuan, with some referring admirably to his ability to “multi-task”.
