And finally… foolish client fined $10,000
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge has branded a patent lawyer a “fool” for representing himself in divorce proceedings.
Justice Matthew Cooper also slapped a fine of $10,000 on lawyer Anthony Zappin for his “aggressively hostile” behaviour.
He spoke of Mr Zappin’s “maelstrom of misconduct” and condemned his cyberbullying of his two-year old son’s court-appointed lawyer.
Justice Cooper said Mr Zappin’s conduct reinforced the adage: “A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.”
Mr Zappin intends to appeal the fine.
