And finally… en sweet

The owner of a churros shop in Stirling is set to face trial for allegedly annoying nearby residents with the sweet smell of the Spanish treat.

Richard Wilmot, 31, denies annoying the occupants of the flat above his shop by not complying with an abatement notice served by Stirling Council contrary to the Environment Protection Act 1990, STV News reports.

His solicitor, Virgil Crawford, admitted to Stirling Sheriff Court that it was “something of an unusual charge”.

Mr Wilmot will reappear before Sheriff Rory Bannerman for trial on 10 November 2022.
