And finally… doors knocked

Thieves have made off with the irreplaceable doors of a sixteenth-century castle, the owners have announced.

Proprietor David Butler said the heavy wooden doors were noticed missing on Saturday.

The distinctive doors of Ballyadams Castle near Ballylinan, in Ireland, date back to the seventeenth or eighteenth century and must have required multiple people to shift.

Mr Butler said it was “the first time that something that big has gone”, despite minor incidents of vandalism over the years.

He called on the public to contact police if they had any information.
