And finally… dead laws

A US politician is on a crusade to have necrophilia outlawed in Massachusetts.

Aaron Vega, 45, state representative for Massachusetts was approached by the police force in his town who expressed concern that the act of having sex with dead bodies was not outlawed.

Speaking to The Guardian, he explained: “Currently, it is illegal to have sex with an animal in Massachusetts, but not with a dead person.

“There is also a host of arcane Massachusetts laws that are still on the books.”

Among these he listed the criminality of sodomy, blasphemy, adultery and, of course, producing an albino in public for hire.

These laws are found in a chapter of the Massachusetts law books called “Crimes Against Chastity, Morality, Decency and Good Order”.

Mr Vega would like to see necrophilia under this section and make it punishable with as much as 20 years in prison.

The chapter contains other curiosities such as a law providing for the imprisonment of “vagabonds” for up to a year where they have acted suspiciously in public.
