And finally… cleaning free
Airbnb will prohibit hosts from requiring guests to clean their accommodation before checkout under new rules taking effect on November 20.
The policy, applying to reservations booked from that date, bans requirements to wash and put away dishes, strip beds, start laundry or take rubbish off-site.
Guests can still be asked to put dirty dishes in the sink, gather used towels and sort rubbish into designated indoor bins. Hosts must disclose house rules before bookings are made and cannot introduce additional requirements afterwards through messages, signs or verbal instructions.
Repeated violations could result in warnings, flagged listings or reduced visibility in search results.
The changes follow complaints from guests about paying cleaning fees while still being expected to tidy properties. They have also drawn criticism from some hosts concerned about the burden on cleaners between bookings.
