And finally… Calgary woman scores complementary drugs and weapons

A Canadian woman whose car was stolen and later recovered has complained to police about the cache of drugs and weapons left inside.

Courtney Pickering, who lives in Calgary, picked up her car from a police impound lot after it was recovered from thieves - and almost immediately discovered a bag of cocaine in the cup holder.

After handing in the Schedule I drugs, Ms Pickering went on to find a crack pipe on her rear seat, four ID documents in the glovebox, a knife in the front passenger door, and a lead pipe near the floor mat.

The paraphernalia and weapons were removed by a trained police officer - but when Ms Pickering drove off one more time, she went on to discover a gun under the driver’s seat as well.

She told the Toronto Star: “At this point, I can’t tell if it’s real or fake.

“All I know is my hands have been on too many illegal things in the past 24 hours and I didn’t want any more.”

Calgary police officials say they are now investigating why the car wasn’t properly looked over.
