Monika Marie Ryans, 24, is accused of attempting to pass the pot-bearing bible onto an inmate while visiting Union Detention Center.

Ms Ryans left the book with the prisoner but a supervisor said that it did not “look or feel right”.

Workers at the jail X-rayed the suspicious book to weed out the hidden contents.

Inside they found three joints and loose tobacco as well as a piece of paper with Ms Ryans’ name on it.

The New York Daily news reported that police arrested the pot peddler when she came back to the centre and charged her with furnishing prisoners with drugs.
