And finally… beehave

A man has been jailed for spraying a pesticide which led to the death of dozens of bee colonies.

The 47-year-old man spread chloropyrifos over trees on his property which were attracting bees.

It led to the death of more than 50 bee colonies belonging to two apiaries neighbouring his property in Austria’s Carinthia province.

Klagenfurt District Court sentenced the man to a year in prison and ordered him to pay €20,000 in compensation.
