And finally… balls up
The popular Irish TV gameshow, Winning Streak, had to seek legal advice at the weekend after a ball became stuck in the spinning wheel which allows competitors to win up to €500,000.
Lawyers attended the set to decide whether the trapped ball could be moved without affecting the result on the TV show.
RTE hosts Marty Whelan and Sinéad Kennedy took a break during filming for Saturday night’s show as staff tried to resolve the issue.
The National Lottery subsequently issued a statement: “On Saturday afternoon, during the recording of the Winning Streak TV gameshow, a technical issue occurred which caused a short delay to the filming of the show. This did not have any impact on the outcome of the game and the show broadcast at the normal time.”
It added that show is carried out under the supervision of independent observers from KPMG.
